What will the night bring?

The dirt track racing scene is almost over for the year and we invite anyone and everyone to come out tonight at Boyd Raceway to watch some mud fly. The big question of the day is what will the night bring for all of our racers, especially the driver of the #54 race car. He is hot right now and is very excited to be out on the track. You know you are at the dirt track when the smell of fuel is in the air, dirt is flying and the sounds of engines roaring around the track drowns out all other sounds. JBS MotorSports is ready to go and only time can tell what will take place tonight. One thing is for sure, excitement is in the air!! Let's Go Racing!!

August 21, 2010

281 Speedway must be the place to be, at least for Cody Shoemaker anyway!! What a night, this kid is doing great and gets better with each race he runs. Cody and his #54 are running hard, staying up with the veterans and even giving them some competition. Gabe Tucker was a major competitor tonight, and beat out Cody in both the heat and the feature, handing Cody second in both races. Cody led about 16 laps out of 20 for the feature and as Gabe came in low, he took 1st from Cody. Cody made him fight for it though, way to go boys!!! Good clean racing, what a show for the fans!! Teammate Jeff Reynolds, must of got some of Cody's bad luck from Friday night, he had problems with his transmission hot lapping and didn't even make it to heat or the feature. As everyone knows, in the world of racing, anything can happen. Better luck next time!

Boyd Raceway 8/20/10

In the end it was a great night of racing but was marked with bad luck throughout the night! The heat race rolled around and while Cody was being strapped in by his dad who is also crew chief, they noticed a small oil leak. Running out of time they made the decision to go ahead and run. Cody started front row inside and took off. He led the first 5 laps then over drove the car and was passed by Brad Shirley and Tom Earl making him round out the top three in the heat. Now time for a break! Finally, they had a chance to fix the oil leak! Then more bad luck,  During the mod race as Cody was sitting in the pit stands watching the race, he got hit in the head with a dirt clog the size of a softball.  Almost knocked him off the back of the stands, and now armed with a few bumps and bruises to the head,  he had to go get ready for the feature. Cody complained of a headache and after some fatherly/son debate, Jerry relented and allowed Cody to run the race! He started front row outside. Green flag dropped and he led the first lap. He soon lost the lead and fought out the battle for 2nd with the 54R car of David Redmond. He lost the battle and fell back to 4th. Under a restart the 46 of Tom Earl got around him and then for 6 laps the 20E car of Ronny Welbourn battled with him for 5th and then Brad Shirley started catching them. He won this battle and brought the JBS MotorSports orange and blue beast home in a 5th place finish. A fantastic night of racing for the seventeen year old! Cody is a trooper and in the world of racing where superstitions run high, Cody didn't let this affect him, he raced his heart out and it shows!

Saturday, August 14

Well, well, well.....Here it is, 2nd in heat, and 3rd in feature. Cody looked awesome tonight, he had to fight it out for this place. David Sparks, the # 7x car wasn't wanting to give up 3rd, but Cody ended up taking it rightfully from him. This race did have a little drama for teammate Jeff Reynolds, who did not get to finish the race due to a tire tap while fighting it out with Gabe Tucker, # 28. Cody is excited as were fans who lined up to get autographed pictures of him and the #54 car. Again, JBS MotorSports had a fantastic night and the next races are bound to keep you on the edge of your seats!!!

Friday August 13

was FUN!!  Cody finished 3rd in the heat which was awesome and then came the feature. Track became dry-slick and he still managed to get 9th out of 15 cars. Car was not exactly set-up for the dry track but he was still great. A lot of veterans lead the race, and our rookie got 9th. Teammate, Jeff Reynolds, got 11th out of 15 cars. All in all, great race and no major damage, and no broken bones!!!!!

August 7th

Stephenville, TX   281 Speedway.

This is a good track for Cody, he does well here. He likes the track and how his car drives here. This was an especially good night for Cody because he finished in second place! Every week brings new experiences for Cody and this week does not disappoint, getting second is truly a high point for him. His teammate, Jeff Reynolds in the #40 car finished first in the race so JBS MotorSports had an excellent night and are ready for next week!
