281 Speedway Banquet

This past weekend Cody was honored at the 281 Speedway 2010 Banquet. He, among other drivers in various classes, received a plaque acknowledging his season and points. Cody placed 4th in points in his IMCA Southern Sport mod Class in Stephenville, Texas.

The banquet was held at a facility adjacent to City Limits in Stephenville. After receiving his award and taking his seat he was approached by another driver named David Sparks. David Sparks placed 2nd in points in 2010 at the 281 track but has since had to leave racing due to job location. David Sparks shook Cody’s hand, gave him a hug, and issued some words of gratitude and encouragement, rendering Cody speechless. David then handed over his plaque to Cody and walked out the door. Cody was stunned to say the least, but also appreciative of such a gesture.

Sorry, this picture is a little blurry….

As the night went on, Cody visited with his family as well as other drivers but not for the same reasons. Trash-talk was in full swing and the competition is at a high! This year’s excitement will be sure to provide a show out on the dirt track. Cody is pumped and ready to take on another year of dirt and grime!

Stay tuned.....

A season better than expected...

If you would have told me I would have finished 4th in points at one track, 10th in points at another, and 20th in the nation, I would have called you a liar. I couldn't have expected a better season than we (JBS Motorsports) had this past year. The #54 southern sportmod and I came home with 8 top 5's and 4 or 5 top 10's. With a 4th place finish in track points at 281 Speedway, and 10th in points at Body Raceway, we are now looking forward to another great season in 2011.

The Big One

The last night of racing was an extremely good one! Cody Shoemaker, in the #54 car, finished the heat race in 3rd, 7th in the B Main, and made it to the big race the A Main, rounding out the night with a 14th. Cody was racing against the best in the country, the likes of Keith White, National Champion, and Gabe Tucker, rated 7th nationally. A little damage to the car was endured, but between his talent and his awesome car, he brought it home and is very happy with the results. Cody's hard work has paid off, his first full year of racing, and he has placed 20th Nationally!! Way to go Cody! You can look at the IMCA Southern SportMod National rankings at http://www.imca.com/  Just click on point standings and then Southern SportMod.

......It is time for a much needed break now, racing season is over!! It is time to relax......or so one might think. Cody is already thinking forward to next racing season and is making plans for himself and his beast of a car. I guess that is what you call hard-core!! Congrats and Good Luck!

What will the night bring?

The dirt track racing scene is almost over for the year and we invite anyone and everyone to come out tonight at Boyd Raceway to watch some mud fly. The big question of the day is what will the night bring for all of our racers, especially the driver of the #54 race car. He is hot right now and is very excited to be out on the track. You know you are at the dirt track when the smell of fuel is in the air, dirt is flying and the sounds of engines roaring around the track drowns out all other sounds. JBS MotorSports is ready to go and only time can tell what will take place tonight. One thing is for sure, excitement is in the air!! Let's Go Racing!!

August 21, 2010

281 Speedway must be the place to be, at least for Cody Shoemaker anyway!! What a night, this kid is doing great and gets better with each race he runs. Cody and his #54 are running hard, staying up with the veterans and even giving them some competition. Gabe Tucker was a major competitor tonight, and beat out Cody in both the heat and the feature, handing Cody second in both races. Cody led about 16 laps out of 20 for the feature and as Gabe came in low, he took 1st from Cody. Cody made him fight for it though, way to go boys!!! Good clean racing, what a show for the fans!! Teammate Jeff Reynolds, must of got some of Cody's bad luck from Friday night, he had problems with his transmission hot lapping and didn't even make it to heat or the feature. As everyone knows, in the world of racing, anything can happen. Better luck next time!
